Allied Telesis launches wireless router offering superior coverage for small businesses

Chiasso, Switzerland. 3 November 2009 – Allied Telesis, the leading provider of networking infrastructure, has launched the AT-WR2304N wireless router to offer advanced coverage and flexibility to small businesses. The router is IEEE 802.11n-compliant, giving it up to six times the throughput and three times the range of routers following the previous IEEE 802.11g version of the standard.

The AT-WR2304N is secure and interoperable, incorporating a number of flexible options allowing small enterprises to reduce wiring and save power, while cutting network installation costs. These include an inbuilt four port fast Ethernet switch, allowing peripherals such as printers to be connected to the network without the need for a separate switch. The AT-WR2304N supports the Wireless Distributed System, allowing network managers to easily add additional routers to target specific network black spots or extend the physical range of the network without additional wiring.

The AT-WR2304N is fully WiFi certified and offers protection based on WPA2, as well as 128-bit ‘shared key’ WEP and WPA. Enterprises with a heavy load of multimedia traffic can also benefit from the product, as it offers high Quality of Service, priority queuing and bandwidth allocation based on the WiFi multimedia feature of the IEEE 802.11 standard.

Melvyn Wray, VP Marketing EMEA of Allied Telesis, commented, “The AT-WR2304N is ideal for home networking and the needs of small enterprises – allowing sharing not only of Internet connections but also printers and files among network PCs. At an attractive price point and incorporating the latest WiFi specifications, this product is part of our effort to make networking more effective and painless.”

The AT-WR2304N is available from Allied Telesis now and will be priced at $110 (€73).
